Frequently Asked Questions

Q: What are monthly "Large Task Hours"?

Any task related to your website that takes over 30 minutes to complete. From digital brand strategy, working prototype wireframes, visual user interface design, and WordPress web development to additional 1-on-1 Google Hangout training, content management, content creation, SEO, social media marketing, and email list building.

To request a tasks, simply contact me.

Your request will be received and evaluated in advance and you’ll be given an estimate. Regardless if your task is considered a small task, large task, overages task, or rollover task you’ll always know the cost upfront.

Q: What happens if I don’t use my hours?

Rollovers. There may be months when you don’t have updates, and that’s okay too. You’ll still get a monthly check in email from me, WordPress core, plugins, and theme updates, Google Analytics and Search Console maintenance.

Any unused hours will rollover for up to three consecutive months. After 3 months, unused hours will expire. My goal is to help you remain accountable to the sustainable growth of your business.

Q: What happens if I cancel mid-month?

You may cancel at any time. To cancel your monthly maintenance plan, please contact me at least in writing at least 15 days in advance to notify me of the cancellation. Regardless of the 15th day, you’ll be reimbursed at pro-rated amount of the remaining month.

Q: What happens if I need to cancel the monthly maintenance, but still need hosting?

You can continue your hosting without the monthly maintenance plan. Just notify me in writing at least 15 days in advance. Your billing will drop down to the monthly most rate of $29/month. Don’t worry, you’ll always have access to your hosting account, including the daily backup repository.

Q: Do you provide email hosting?

Short answer, no. For the safety, security, performance and overall health of your WordPress website, neither I (nor WP Engine) provides email hosting. For business class email and document services, I highly recommend using G Suite by Google. Sign up for the G Suite with a 14 Day FREE Trial, then plans start at $5/month (paid directly to Google).

Once you’re signed up, log in to your new G Suite account at admin.google.com. From the Admin console, click “Admin roles” and add the email address I will give as a Services Admin (Only). When you’re finished, I should receive an email from Google that you’ve me added to your account. Once I’ve gained admin access to your G Suite account, I’ll take care of adding your mail records (MX) to the CloudFlare DNS account. I’ll even help you get setup with Gmail on your phone, tablet, and/or computer.

Q: Do you register domain names for clients?

Short answer, no. I believe you should ALWAYS have full ownership of your website, this especially applies to your domain name. Because domain name registration and renewal is provided by a multitude of domain registrars, it’s up to you register your domain name and keep the registration up-to-date.

After you’ve registered your domain, contact me. I will provide you with access to a Google document where you can securely enter the access information to your registrar account.

Once your domain information is received, your site will be added to my system within 24 to 48 hours (or less).

Q: Do you offer discounts for nonprofits?

Yes. I look forward to opportunities to to support nonprofits organizations and “giving back.” Please contact me and I’ll see what I can do to assist you. Please note, you may need to submit proof of 501c3 status.

Q: Do provide non-web graphic design?

Yes, but any design services not a part of your WordPress website (such as logo/identity, print graphic design, and other non-website related design services) usually take an extended amount of time and are therefore out-of-scope of these monthly plans. If you have additional graphic design needs, please contact me, and I will provide you with an individual project estimate separately.

Please read the services page for a list of available services within the scope of the monthly maintenance service and additional services (estimated separately).

Q: You can't possibly help me with the entire creative lifecycle of my website. Can you?!

Yep! I can help you with almost every aspect of your digital brand strategy and pro website design needs – through the entire creative lifecycle of your project.

With over 19+ years of professional industry experience, I’ve worn most of the hats. From digital brand strategist, creative director, user experience designer, and visual user designer to front-end WordPress web development, quality assurance tester, and SEO specialist, social media manager, I’ve got you covered.

And if there is something I can’t do, I’ll tell you. Plus, I work with you to find a vendor/contract who can.

Q: What are monthly "Small Design Tasks"?

Small design/content tasks are things related to your website that I can complete within 30 minutes.  Common small design/content tasks include things like creating graphics for your website, designing social media graphics, photo editing (such as removing backgrounds from product images), or fixing typos, spelling, or grammar errors on your site.

To request a tasks, simply contact me.

Your request will be received and evaluated in advance and you’ll be given an estimate. Regardless if your task is considered a small task, large task, overages task, or rollover task you’ll always know the cost upfront.

Q: What happens if I go over my hours?

Overages. There may be months when you’ve got more updates than available hours for maintenance. If it looks like your updates in a month are going to go over your allotted amount, it’s not a problem.

I will evaluate the update to see what can be accomplished within the budget for the month and prioritize tasks. If the task is time sensitive or will take longer than the allotted hours, an estimate for the hours in overage will be provided (payment due in advance). Then you can decide if the update for the month is within your budget before moving forward.

Q: What are the upfront fees?

There are no upfront fees (no cancellation fees, either).

Q: Do I have to commit to a contract?

Nope! My monthly service is billed using a recurring monthly subscription. There are no contracts to sign, setup fees or cancellation fees.

Q: Can I change my plan after I sign up?

Absolutely! You can upgrade or downgrade your subscription plan at any time.

Q: Do I own the website created?

If you should ever decide to cancel, for any reason, a complete backup of your current site files and database will be created and sent to you either via email or a 3rd party service such as Dropbox.

Q: Do you provide design revisions?

Yes. I strive to deliver a product you are happy with. In most cases (for instance small design tasks, large design task, working prototype wireframes, visual user interface design for homepage, and social media images), I’ll provide a single design concept with two (2) rounds of revisions to completion. Most of the time this is satisfactory.

Additional Revisions. If additional revisions are requested, they may be considered “out-of-scope” of the subscription plan and an additional revision estimate will be assessed (payment due immediately upon delivery of final revision).

Q: I have my own host. Do I have to use yours?

Yes, in order for me to properly and efficiently manage all clients’ requests.

Q: What happens if I request a task on a weekend or public holiday?

If a task is requested on a weekend or public holiday and is marked urgent, I’ll prioritize and do my very best to get it done as soon as possible.

Q: How can you say "No Code Required"? Can you code?

Yes, I can code – I just choose not to. While I have an extensive background in HTML 5, CSS3, PHP, Javascript, JQuery, and other coding languages, my monthly service plans strictly utilize the Divi Builder Drag-and-Drop Theme by Elegant Themes, allowing me to provide you with a professional, easy-to-use, service to affordably grow your business.  If you have specific WordPress development/programming needs not covered, please contact me directly to see if I may be able to assistance you.
